Raising the standard for learning & development
We equipped Jeronimo Martins’ L&D team with the skills and standards to design learner-centred, measurable, and culturally adaptable learning. Shifting from content delivery to creating effective learning spaces.
The Challenge
To support a group of up to 16 L&D team members in Portugal, with a mix of new and experienced colleagues.
The desired solution was to build a set of design standards for the JM L&D learners to use in their roles.
The focus was on creating effective learning spaces rather than simply delivering standardised meh content.
The team needed to develop skills in designing learner-centred solutions.
They needed a more punk, creative, and experimental approach to design.
Existing solutions tended to reflect designers’ preferences rather than learners’ needs. Classically design for us not them.
Measurement of impact was limited to basic metrics.
Ultimately, the aim was to create practical, learner-led, evidence-based, and impactful solutions across multiple locations, with their teams delivering content in Portugal, Poland and Colombia.
The Solution
This programme enabled learners to understand and apply learning theories, learning models, and various methodologies to create engaging and effective instructional design for the clients industry.
Participants gained insights into active learning techniques, overcoming learning barriers, and practical application of theories to ensure transferable and relatable learning experiences could be designed across diverse cultures.
The solution set the standard for the ‘JM way’ of learning and development.
The Result
By the end of the programme, learners were able to design and deliver high-quality training content that caters to different learning needs, fosters active engagement, and promotes successful knowledge transfer within their global teams
